Age Wise – Road Safety

Road Safety (Age wise):  A free refresher course for those over 65 to revise the road rules to keep driving safely.  Locate this information on the Rotorua Council website under Road Safety.    Additionally Driving On,  is a free practical driving programme for the same age group to refresh and improve their driving knowledge and skills.  The venue for this is Taupo Ricoh Motorsport Park.   Contact Rotorua Lakes Council for further information.

Arthritis New Zealand

Arthritis New Zealand offers warm water based exercise classes in Rotorua with sessions at both the Polynesian Pools and the Cantabria pool.   View calendar dates for these classes. A Bupa Alarm will automatically raise an alert to a carer or family member via a personal pager or to a 24 hour monitored station.   Your carer or family member can be feel secure knowing they will be alerted immediately, if needed.

CCS Disability Action

CCS Disability Action provide support so people with disabilities are included in the life of their family/whanau and community.  Services provided include help with Mobility Parking, Total Mobility, Disability Awareness Training and advice. Rotorua contact: Ph:  07 347 6545  OR Ph: 07 985 4910 * possibly after hours  (ringing me back to confirm) National contacts are below, however the national 0800 can only be called from landlines.  Mobile phone users need to call the local branch number.

Citizens Advice Bureau

Offering a variety of services both specific and limited.  Including free legal appointments twice a week, new migrant support clinics once a week and Justices of the Peace clinics twice a week.  Bureau also provides access to telephone use (local calls), fax and copying services along with help filling out forms.  Appointment advisable but not necessary.

Deaf Association

Deaf Aotearoa delivers flexible and responsive services to accommodate the needs of the Deaf Community.  We provide knowledge, information and skills to help deaf people independently manage their own lives.  The Tauranga Office services the Bay of Plenty Region with the office open for enquiries and appointments from Monday to Thursday,  9:00am to 4:00pm.
