Help Out & Volunteer

Volunteering your time is the ‘greatest gift’ you can offer

“It’s rewarding and satisfying knowing that you can enhance someone’s life in simple ways”

Our AVS (Accredited Visitors Service) is a program aimed towards addressing social isolation and lonlieness.

Offering an hour of your time over a cup of tea to share stories or engage in an activity together with an older person is all it takes to add a ‘little joy’ to their life.   Visiting an elderly person is a precious and mutually rewarding experience and an opportunity to make a new friend.   Importantly it helps alleviate the feeling of isolation experienced by some of our older generation.

Our Volunteers are highly valued and are a keystone in our community.

We invite Volunteers to enrol in our Accredited Visitor Services Program;

Please get in touch if you;

  • have a warm, caring and friendly personality
  • respect confidentiality and other cultures
  • have an hour to offer most weeks
  • are happy to comply with our credential check

CONTACT our Accredited Visiting Service (AVS) Coordinators by email or phone: (07) 347 1539, if  you would like to allocate a small percentage of your time for this wonderful opportunity.

Would you like more company?
For our elderly in the community;  if  you are feeling lonely or would like more social contact, it’s important to do something about it and Age Concern can help you.  View our  “Would you like more Company” client brochure on how this wonderful service can work for you.  Our clients tell us that they feel ‘happier and less lonely when they have a visitor’ and that this service makes a positive difference in their lives.  Note: Rotorua Age Concern will aim to suitably match you  with the right person.
